= Sunday, we were tapped to prepare members for their first trip to the temple. Then because I was tapped to meet with the President and clerk, Steph started the class without me. When I was done in the branch office, it seemed wise to let her continue. She spoke about things we needed to do to be worthy to attend the temple and described the importance of covenants and of learning through symbols.
= For those who make sacred covenants with God in the temple, much is expected of them. Questions involving worthiness came up again occasionally during the lesson. She spent some time on the garments worn under their clothes by members who have made these covenants and practical aspects of how and when to wear them. They're a physical reminder of inner commitments we have made.
= Bishop Kobi brought a cute dress he's working on for Steph; he retained it to raise the back (cut too wide and low). This week a year ago, we left Alabama and flew to Utah to look around before our training began
= Monday, we had our usual weekly meeting. I asked for a few minutes with him; he said I had handled the bicycle situation just fine. I drove Steph to Salgyn Medical Clinic, where she paid for work. Then because those missionaries live next door, we let them ride with us while we went to Cape Coast Stadium Clinic to drop off a check. The stadium overlook areas were packed with young adults; the bleachers themselves were empty.
= Steph created a salad, which we ate while watching Don't Miss This (scripture discussion).
= Tuesday, we stayed home, handling medical and apartment issues remotely. A friend had just finished a medical procedure but was still there in the facility. We had hoped to visit her, but to our discredit we didn’t make it there before she was discharged. [sigh]
= Bishop Kobi came back with the dress, altered. It works and matches a tie that I have from the same fabric.
= Community water trickling in, I closed the input to our overhead polytank - we have full jugs - and diverted the little water to the Elders' overhead polytank.
=Steph cut out and applied tip-ins [summaries] she had printed for sections of her scriptures. She cooked chicken in the replacement electric pressure cooker.
= I was baptized today in 1975 in Spain, not long after Vincent’s miracle birth. He slid out; the doctor had to catch him. Mary-Lorraine was saved in the womb two years earlier by a tired but very alert doctor: another miracle.

= Wednesday, we stopped by the office and the pharmacy at Goil, inspected an apartment in Asebu, and dropped off packages to missionaries in Yamoransa. We had light suppers (ramen for me, gari for Steph). Steph tried to rest. I sent the journal episode and posted the blog for last week.
= Thursday, office, then Ajumako, but when we were in an undeveloped area, my phone stopped connecting to GPS and Internet. We used Steph’s phone to reach out to the occupants, who sent good coordinates. The temporary problem with my phone - it worked later - saved us some time!
= We inspected the apartment; drove to the post office to send our new address to the probate office; and built a get-well basket for our friend who was recuperating: fruit, medicine, snacks, bread, and the basket itself.
= Home, I finished redoing the workbook that I use for apartment issues, simplifying it while allowing it to handle more information.
= Friday while paying tithing, I noticed that we've been without rent for two months. On the plus side, USAA sent a bonus for length of service by the company; the bonus was almost what we receive for a month’s rent.
= And, it was this week a year ago that we toured church facilities in Utah before starting missionary training. That’s hard to believe.
= We inspected an apartment in Abakrampa, then drove to Mankessim to La Femme restaurant for Date Night [lunch]. Very nice. Home, Steph dealt with medical issues and had a three-way call with the doctor and a missionary at 7:30. Then we ate the leftovers from lunch and watched Star Trek - Enterprise until midnight.
= Saturday, I learned indirectly that we probably do have a renter. The Campbells picked up a piano from the Elders next door and will see that it's used at the branch where the Campbells worship. President Morgan asked me how to purchase bicycle helmets I had sent him information about; I picked one source and responded that Elder Dimmick can buy them via MoMo.
= Scary but OK. Three missionaries and a lady translator were hit by an aboboyaa from behind; the driver had come around a curve too fast. It knocked them down but only gave them cuts and bruises. They went to Elmina polyclinic, only a half hour from us, but they insisted they were fine, had enough money to pay for treatment, and didn’t need us to come. Steph did follow-up paperwork.
= I went to bed after midnight; Steph stayed up to finish working on her hair until past 2 AM. She says the power went off for a while; I never noticed. And, it rained hard.

Some parents send their missionaries items though "LDS Xpress". Couriers fly the items to the missionary's country from Utah. In our case, that means Accra, after which they're shipped by bus. This time, the bags were securely wrapped in an over-taped garbage bag. Then missionaries pick them up at their zone conference (every six weeks).
