= Sunday, we were late for Sacrament (Testimony Meeting, bumped from the first Sunday by General Conference). We stayed after for choir and then for Carmen's baptism. She was so outgoing that she introduced herself to me after Sacrament (while Steph was bestowing gifts).
= Home, we watched Don't Miss This. I wrestled for hours parsing a list of young single adults to get names and emails from a PDF. Imagine bad optical character recognition and you'll get the idea.
= Monday at work, Steph had more independent things to do than before. I added work unit counts to the workbook of key performance indicators. (Cases spark visits that have one or two units of work associated with them.) Then we went to climate-controlled storage, which was already hot for our taste: morning visit next time. Home, I went back to cleaning young single adult information.
= Steph prepared ramen with meat so thin that it cooked in the hot water for the ramen. I finished the lists fairly late, then watched the conclusion of a Chinese drama (The Double) with Steph until 0200.
= Tuesday, we interacted with the young single adult conference committee. The Toastmasters meeting was a real hoot! We were encouraged to look at the IRS as just a set of bureaucrats trying to help. Table topics included "What is your favorite pickup line?" Steph related one that she and a friend used on a police officer decades ago, just for fun.
= Steph sweet-talked the Fire Meats Wood driver into pulling together a couple of meals from the food he had left; his truck had already closed for the afternoon. The meals were tender, delicious, and filling. Home, I napped while Steph worked with a device we had picked up from storage. Then I picked a few photos I intended to share about our mission. [fail: way too many]
= Wednesday at work, Steph broke her last pair of glasses, and I broke my computer glasses today. Afterward, we went to "our" eyeglass vendor, but they no longer have an eye doctor. Steph dug out the single-use contacts she keeps for fancy functions and emergencies.
= Home, we interacted with the conference committee. Then I realized that it was fruitless for me to try to pick just a few mission photos. Just selecting the "best" photos for the first four months of our mission resulted in a Word document too large to email. Steph lined up an eye appointment for Friday!!
= Thursday, Steph had a headache but nevertheless remembered an appointment with the missionaries, and we kept it. The Sister missionaries (and we) talked about patriarchal blessings [inspired counsel and blessings for you personally, received once in your lifetime]. Home again, Michelle (our middle daughter) called, and we had a great talk. Her daughter, Lana, moved in with her!
= Friday, Steph worked more on credentialing providers; I bulked up my bread crumb trail for what I do. We made it to the eye appointment, and the eye doctor remembered Steph from years ago.
= Steph and I agreed to encourage the committee members to do as much of the legwork as feasible. We'll finish the contact lists, but other than that, we'll suggest, nag [grin], and report progress.
= I had mis-remembered the date of a function in Prattville; when we realized my error, we ate at Hawaiian BBQ Ramen and Poke: very nice. Home, I napped, then played guitar for a bit. We watched a Russian-Chinese fantasy featuring Jackie Chan and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Then we watched The Closer until past midnight.
= Saturday, I invested time in documenting what agencies in or near Elmore County can do and how to contact them; Michelle has a friend in difficulty. Then I worked on next week's Toastmasters speech.
Someone's having a pod delivered. The structure around it moves separately from the truck, like a remote-controlled spider that puts the pod in place.
So we can get to other items. The aisle is deep enough for three rolling shelf units; we only use two in each aisle currently.
That's another rolling shelf in the background.
With fresh batteries, the fan this bear holds still works and is synchronized with its strobe to display messages.
The subtext is more useful than the sound bite that the podcast software chose for a teaser image. It says: Letting go of control is harder than we think - but it changes everything.
I raised seating for two near the rear in case I had to move missionaries. The rear seats are normally folded flat as part of the floor.
ZYA1R3 {Zaire, once the name of what is now Democratic Republic of the Congo.} {also the name for a river that swallows all other rivers [the Congo]}
Green beans and tuna: salad in a can. I departed from my norm and used Italian-style beans instead of cut green beans. Add salad dressing, and you're ready to go.
