= Sunday, Jim Garner brought me to church early so we could rehearse with the quartet to sing in Sacrament today. When it was time for Sacrament meeting, Steph came in wearing a pink dress; nice. The Moores were released from their callings; they leave next week to care for an ailing family member.
= A man related that growing up, if there was anything stupid to do, he did it. But he matured, and while he was on his mission, he learned of the bad accident that was had by friends who hadn't changed their lives; if he had continued on their path, he and they could have died.
= Our barbershop-style quartet did a good job of performing Jim’s arrangement of “His Eye Is on the Sparrow: Thayle Byington, Jim Garner, Ross Moore, and I - a cappella.
= A woman reminded us that anger destroys the vessel that holds it, regardless of the reaction of those you forgive, it brings you healing, miracles, and peace. It doesn't mean condoning or excusing their actions, but those actions will no longer control your state of mind.
= In Elders Quorum, while reviewing a conference talk, we considered how to serve others more effectively through ministering to them, especially new members.
= Home, I finished moving files to the new laptop and got my online backup vendor to accept it as if it was the old laptop.
= Monday after work, we spent a while exploring our climate-controlled storage unit and filled the minivan a bit more than one layer deep of boxes. Then while Steph rested in the front seat, I pulled items out of regular storage to reach and load our ottomans, then replaced those items. After we ate at home, Steph worked in the studio to nudge podcast artifacts while I worked in the library on bills and preparing to evaluate a Toastmasters speech tomorrow.
= Tuesday, Scott Burbank in his speech made Toastmasters' paths for improvement seem so straightforward that I volunteered to give a speech next week. Afterward, Steph and I ate from a food truck: Fire "Meats" Wood; good. I reviewed our credit and debit transactions, and we concluded that the drop in our checking balance lately was due to unusual purchases such as replacing items, not our general spending pattern.
= Wednesday at work, I found a way to use daily reports in bulk to refresh key indicators instead of running individual weekly reports for the entire history one at a time, every week. Steph has a headset now and will soon be using three monitors at work, not just two. Home, we realized that the vehicle next to our driveway has a tag that expired in the month we left the States.
= Thursday, I made pancakes with multiple types of flour with varying amounts of water; semi-successful. Steph tried to draft a podcast on her iPad while I slept. Then I sent a journal episode and published the corresponding blog. The new laptop behaved today, as I had prayed for it to do.
= Friday, the announcement was made that Quinn Millington’s company, EMG Solutions, will provide opportunities for students of Rocky Mountain University of Health Professionals to observe nerve conduction studies (NCS) and electromyography (EMG). (These tests check how well muscles and the nerves that control them are working. We currently work for EMG Solutions in back-office roles.) I confirmed a way to get the accounting system to reliably show the specific cases for which collection or adjustment has yet to be made for past weeks.
= After work, we walked through Hobby Lobby, then bulked up on supplies at Costco.
= Saturday, we stayed in bed until afternoon. We interacted with President Rawls and the YSA Conference Committee regarding a budget increase provided by the Area Presidency. Then I built a speech for next week: a getting-to-know-you "icebreaker" project required by the Toastmasters path I wanted to pursue.
= Steph used two frying pans and two Instant Pots to build a meal for eight: six missionaries ate with us this evening, as planned. After they left Steph worked on a podcast; at midnight we ate ice cream together while watching Andromeda, and then Steph went back to the podcast. I worked on the journal and blog until 0200. Steph was still awake in the studio in the morning.
Elder Junhong Lim is serving in Utah, in the Provo mission. (Provo is where we went to the Missionary Training Center.)
And we have received recliners (to assemble).
Quality Control. This [a red strip] is attached to the hardware pack included inside - a visible confirmation of hardware being packed in the box.
This strip of cardboard was placed where someone might otherwise have cut the chair when opening the box.
The car left next to our driveway has a tag that expired in 2024, just after we left on our mission.
..
I used to lead music at a military base Protestant chapel. The Chaplain gave this as a gift on departure.

In Alabama when someone dies in a traffic accident, the family often places a cross near the spot, and it's left in place for a long time, often for years.
Some assembly required. The hardest part was making sure the right bolts and washers were used in the right places.
A pointed piece on the left and right of the chair slides and snaps into a corresponding sleeve, already attached.
Bed conversion
We tried to cook meat (bulgogi) in this roaster, but this appliance was meant for a long cook, closed. So, we used alternate appliances to prepare the meal on time.
